Robert Ashburn’s interest in epigenetics first started during his Bachelors in The University of Edinburgh and in A*Star Singapore, where his stints at the bench in The Mitić and Roger Foo labs focused on investigating the epigenetic dysregulation underlying cardiovascular diseases. As a change of scenery, he joined the Tachibana lab in Vienna for his MSc thesis to investigate novel regulators of zygotic genome activation. He has since moved with the lab to Munich where he began his IMPRS PhD to investigate why ZGA occurs when it does. Asides from this, he often flip-flops between enjoying a variety of sports like football and climbing, or being a compulsive homebody.
