Frank De Gasperi – About the Glow of water

The element of water is the focus of the photographic work of the Munich-based artist Frank De Gasperi.

He concentrates on colors and forms, creating abstract images in which the viewer can lose himself. The images play with reflections and flowing movements, and in doing so, repeatedly explore the boundaries of painting.

Frank De Gasperi does not manipulate his paintings on the computer. This is not a rejection of the creative possibilities offered by digital image processing. Rather, it is important to the artist to show that all the impressive colors

and forms are already present in nature. Subsequent distortion is therefore unnecessary. Abstraction focuses the eye on details that are usually overlooked or not immediately visible to the naked eye, and is intended to stimulate

a fascination with the multifaceted element of water. Pairings and trilogies form a focal point of the exhibition.

At the same time, with the creative aesthetics of his photographs, the artist wants to remind us of the importance of comprehensive water protection.

Clean water is the basis of life. Intact water landscapes are elementary for the protection of the environment and species and a prerequisite for this changeable photo motif to remain in its natural beauty in the long term.

The specific location of the photographs is not apparent from the abstract motifs, but almost all of them were taken in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. They are thermosublimated onto fabric and mounted onto a wooden frame.

About the artist

Frank De Gasperi from Munich was interested in photography from an early age. Over the years, abstract nature photography emerged as his preferred subject.

In 2014 he took a professional break to devote more time to his hobby. His first exhibition at the Schrannenhalle in Munich was the beginning of a series of exhibitions.

The fascination for the element water is always the focal point of his photographic work. The waters of the Bavarian foothills of the Alps continue to reveal new abstract colors and forms.

In his exhibition "The Glow of Water" he focuses on pairs and trilogies.

Duration of the exhibition and opening hours

The exhibition can be seen from Sep 09 – Nov 08, 2024 in our foyer.

On Monday, 09.09. at 06:00 pm there will be a vernissage at which the artist will be present.
